Baked Ziti is a comforting one-pan dish combining pasta, meat, cheese, and sauce, perfect for family dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
  4. Add ground beef or sausage, cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in marinara sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. In a large bowl, combine cooked ziti, meat sauce, and ricotta cheese. Mix well.
  7. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the ziti mixture, followed by half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Repeat layers.
  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  9. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Remove from oven, let cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh basil, and serve.

Notes

Serve hot with a green salad and garlic bread. Extra Parmesan and fresh basil can enhance flavor.
