A comforting and flavorful baked beans recipe, perfect for family gatherings and barbecues.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups navy beans
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 4 slices bacon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Water as needed

Instructions

  1. Soak the navy beans overnight in water, then drain.
  2. Boil the beans by covering them with fresh water and bringing to a boil. Simmer for 1 hour.
  3. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  4. Combine cooked beans with onion, brown sugar, ketchup, molasses, mustard, and bacon in a large pot or Dutch oven.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Prepare by covering with water until just submerged.
  7. Bake in the oven for 3-4 hours, adding water if necessary until beans are tender.

Notes

These baked beans can be stored in the fridge for up to a week or frozen for up to three months.
