A rich and flavorful Cuban dish combining ground beef, olives, and raisins for a delightful taste experience.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup green olives, sliced
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking
  • Cooked rice or warm tortillas for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  2. Add diced onion and bell pepper; sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart until no pink remains.
  5. Stir in the tomato sauce, olives, raisins, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  6. Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Serve over fluffy white rice or with warm tortillas.

Notes

For the best flavor, allow your beef to brown well. You can substitute with ground turkey for a lighter version.
