A luscious custard that melts in your mouth, rich yet light, perfect for any dessert occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt until combined and smooth.
  2. Whisk the egg yolks until pale and slightly thickened.
  3. Gradually add half of the warm milk mixture into the egg yolks, whisking constantly.
  4. Pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan with the remaining milk mixture.
  5. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
  8. Whip the heavy cream in a separate bowl until soft peaks form.
  9. Fold the whipped cream into the custard mixture until smooth and refrigerate until set (1-2 hours).

For added flavor, consider incorporating citrus zest or flavored extracts.
