Crispy and guilt-free mozzarella sticks made in an air fryer, perfect for your next snack or gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 mozzarella string-cheese sticks
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning (optional)
  • ½ tsp fine salt
  • Olive oil or cooking spray
  • Warm marinara sauce, ranch dip, or your favorite dipping sauce
  • Optional: grated Parmesan cheese, chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Prepare and freeze the mozzarella sticks and set up three bowls: one with flour, one with eggs, and another with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and salt.
  2. Dredge each stick in flour, dip it in the egg, and then coat it in breadcrumbs. For extra crispiness, repeat the egg and breadcrumb step for a double coat. Place the breaded sticks on a tray and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 390–400°F (≈200°C) for a few minutes.
  4. Air fry the mozzarella sticks for 5–8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crisp.
  5. Serve immediately with warm marinara or ranch dip, and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese or chopped fresh parsley, if desired.

Notes

For a crunchier texture, use a combination of panko and regular breadcrumbs. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket for even cooking.
