A nostalgic treat that combines the soft doughy goodness of pretzel bread with hot dogs and melty cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb bread dough
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • Coarse sea salt
  • Optional: mustard or dipping sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Roll out the bread dough on a clean surface and cut it into strips.
  3. Place a hot dog and a scoop of cheese on each dough strip. Roll the dough around the hot dog and cheese, tucking the ends to seal.
  4. Bring water to a boil in a large pot and add the baking soda.
  5. Carefully lower each pretzel dog into the boiling water for about 30 seconds.
  6. Brush each pretzel dog with the beaten egg and sprinkle generously with coarse sea salt.
  7. Pop them into the oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm with mustard or your favorite dipping sauces.
