Ingredients
Scale
1 pound white fish fillets (e.g., cod or tilapia)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup cornmeal
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika
2 eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons butter
1 lemon, juiced and zested
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cut the fish into bite-sized pieces that are easy to handle and perfect for dipping.
Mix together flour, salt, pepper, and paprika in a shallow bowl. In another bowl, place the beaten eggs. In a third bowl, combine breadcrumbs and cornmeal.
Dredge each fish piece in the flour mixture, dip it into the eggs, then coat it in the breadcrumb and cornmeal mixture.
Melt the butter over medium heat in a skillet and fry the fish bites for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Place the fried fish bites on the prepared baking sheet and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes.
Mix together mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a bowl for the aioli.
Serve the fish bites warm with the garlic aioli on the side for dipping.
