Guilt-free oven-baked churro bites with wholesome ingredients and a delightful cinnamon-sugar flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the flour, coconut sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  3. Mix together the applesauce, almond milk, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract in another bowl.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly golden.
  7. Roll the churro bites in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon while warm, if desired.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

These bites can be paired with hot chocolate or coffee. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for a month.
