  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Vegetable oil for frying (about 1 cup)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Rinse and Dry the Shrimp: Rinse the shrimp thoroughly under cold water, then pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. Set Up the Breading Station: In one bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. In a second bowl, beat the eggs until well blended.
  3. Coat the Shrimp: Take each shrimp and coat it in the egg mixture, then dredge it in the flour mixture.
  4. Heat the Oil: In a skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
  5. Fry the Shrimp: Carefully place a few shrimp in the hot oil and fry them for about 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Drain and Serve: Remove the shrimp and let them drain on paper towels. Serve immediately with dipping sauce.
