Crispy Orange Tofu

A delightful and crispy tofu dish coated in a sweet and tangy orange sauce, capturing the essence of summer.

Ingredients

  • 14 oz firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu by wrapping it in a clean towel and placing a heavy object on top for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Cube the pressed tofu into bite-sized pieces and toss in cornstarch until well-coated.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Fry the tofu cubes for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Prepare the sauce by combining orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and sesame oil in another pan and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  6. Toss the crispy tofu in the thickened orange sauce until evenly coated.
  7. Serve immediately, garnished with sesame seeds or green onions.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet for best results.
