A nostalgic recipe for crispy country fried chicken, marinated in buttermilk and seasoned to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 chicken pieces (legs, thighs, or breasts)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 2 hours, or overnight if possible.
  2. Prepare the seasoned flour mixture by combining flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat, enough to submerge the chicken halfway.
  4. Dredge the marinated chicken in the seasoned flour mixture until thoroughly coated.
  5. Fry the chicken for 12-15 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Drain the fried chicken on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

Avoid overcrowding the skillet for even cooking. Marinating overnight enhances flavor.
