Cheesy Mushroom & Swiss Burger Casserole

A comforting casserole filled with ground beef, mushrooms, and gooey Swiss cheese—a perfect family meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cups Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 cups hamburger buns, torn into pieces
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and mushrooms, then sauté until onions are translucent.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain excess fat and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Combine the beef mixture with cream of mushroom soup, milk, and half of the Swiss cheese in a large bowl. Stir until well blended.
  5. Layer the torn buns in a greased casserole dish. Pour the beef mixture over the buns and top with remaining Swiss cheese.
  6. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding spinach or bell peppers. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
