Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh blueberries (washed and stems removed)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest (finely grated)
  • 1 packet pectin (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the blueberries by washing and removing stems, then place in a mixing bowl and squeeze gently.
  2. Cook the jam by combining blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, and zest in a saucepan, stirring until sugar dissolves and bringing to a boil.
  3. Add pectin if desired, stirring and simmering for 5-10 minutes to reach the desired thickness.
  4. Jar the jam by ladling into sterilized jars, leaving headspace, and cleaning the rims for sealing.
  5. Cool and store in the refrigerator for up to three weeks or process in a hot water bath for longer shelf life.

Notes

Use ripe blueberries for best flavor. Adjust sugar based on your sweetness preference. Always sterilize jars for long-term storage.
