  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp pure mint extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease two round cake pans.
  2. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Beat the softened butter with granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the whole milk and pure mint extract.
  6. Fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  7. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  8. Evenly divide the batter between the two prepared pans and bake for about 25-30 minutes.
  9. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. Decorate with your favorite mint frosting once completely cooled.
